It was a wet one…

Well, Woodsmoke Rendezvous XLIII has come and gone. We hope that you were able to dry out your gear and get it stored away for next year before the next batch of rain pushed through.

We have learned over the years that while it makes camp more fun to have great weather, we really learn valuable lessons about how to pitch tents, make fire, cook, and camp comfortably when the weather isn’t good. We learn more from adversity than when everything is going our way. That’s what the Scout motto “Be Prepared” is all about! The original mountain men “made do” with what they had on hand for a year at the time. They couldn’t resupply until the next rendezvous!

This was a learning year. We are thankful for each leader and each Scout who attended Woodsmoke XLIII. We hope you have some great stories to tell around the campfire next year about the “rainy Rendezvous”!

The Brigade wants to issue a special thanks to Troops 38, 41, and 77 for making an extra effort at Woodsmoke this year. If any leaders have photos they are willing to share from this camp, please send them to the Woodsmoke Scribe at chipqberry@gmail.com and I will post what I can.

God bless, and we’ll see you next year!
